Otto Oval was flying in a space ship.  He loved being an astronaut, but he missed his SHAPEL friends when he was away.  Just as he was getting ready to land, he sent them a message to let them know he was on his way home.   He said, “We’re coming this way everybody. Wait til you see what I brought you!”

He landed over there and this is what he brought back:

1. Chocolate chips
2. Jelly beans
3. Markers
4. Paper
5. Pencils

There were extra supplies that had not been used during the trip to outer space, and he wanted to share them with his friends.

It was a beautiful sunny day.  Otto Oval was so happy that he returned to Earth safely.  He couldn’t wait to see his friends.

He removed his space helmet and immediately went to Cindy Circle’s house to give her a big bag of chocolate chips, but she was not home.  Otto Oval remembered that Cindy Circle always made the best chocolate chip cookies, and she would be so excited to get chocolate chips that had travelled to outer space!   He left the bag on her doorstep with a note and went back to his house to divide up the rest of the supplies he had brought back for his friends.  Since Otto Oval had given Cindy Circle all of the chocolate chips, there were only 4 things left to pack up:  jelly beans, markers, paper, and pencils   (5 – 1 = 4).

At first, Otto Oval was going to keep the jelly beans for himself.   After all, he was shaped just like a jelly bean and loved to munch on them!   But he decided it would be much nicer to share the jelly beans with his friends.  Being kind to your friends is important, right? Besides, Otto Oval loves to share!

He quickly divided everything up into 5 boxes.   (Can you count them?)  “Great school supplies,” he thought to himself!  Now he had a box of goodies from outer space ready for each of his 5 SHAPEL friends:  Cindy Circle, Ricky Rectangle, Tommy Triangle, Suzy Square, and Debbie Diamond.  Otto Oval stacked the 5 boxes on top of his wagon, and he and his dog Oliver started to deliver them  leaving a box at each house to surprise his friends.

As he arrived at the last house, Cindy Circle ran over and handed Otto Oval a gigantic box of chocolate chip cookies she had baked for him using the chocolate chips from outer space.  He was thrilled!  “The cookies are circles – just like me,” Cindy Circle said proudly.  “And they are GLUTEN FREE.  I used a special kind of flour just for you.  “Thank you so much, Cindy Circle!” said Otto Oval as he took a big bite out of one of the cookies.  “You are such a thoughtful friend!”

Just then, all the other SHAPELS® appeared!  They had already found the boxes of goodies and wanted to thank Otto Oval.  “Besides,” admitted Ricky Rectangle, “We could smell the aroma of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and knew it must be coming from Cindy Circle’s house! She’s the best baker in all of SHAPELTOWN®.” Do you think Otto Oval shared his cookies?  Yes, of course he did!

Then, with a big smile and a chuckle, Astronaut Otto Oval told Cindy Circle that her cookies were definitely…

“OUT OF THIS WORLD!”

Ricky Rectangle, Suzy Square, Debbie Diamond, and Tommy Triangle all agreed!

It was another good day in SHAPELTOWN®!
